A Short Biography of a Property Magnate

Having announced his intention to run in the 2016 Presidential election on June 16th of this year, interest in Donald Trump is perhaps the highest it’s been in years. So, who is the main behind the name?

The Early Years

Born in Queens, New York City on June 14th 1946, Donald Trump is the son of Mary Anne (nee McLeod) and Fred Trump. Trump attended the private school Kew-Forest School up until the eighth grade, when his father enrolled him at the New York Military Academy (NYMA) for the remainder of his high school education.

Following high school, Donald Trump initially attended Fordham University in the Bronx for two years, before transferring to the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, due to their possessing one of the few Real Estate departments in US universities. Trump graduated the University of Pennsylvania in 1968 with a BSc in Economics.

Career and Successes

Despite having filed for corporate bankruptcy four times in total, Donald Trump has enjoyed some huge successes throughout the course of his career.

It’s easy to say that Trump has a hand in everything; Real Estate, Politics, TV and entertainment, even beauty pageants. Arguably, though, his real roots are in Real Estate.

Trump’s first job was at his father’s real estate company, Elizabeth Trump & Son, which tended to trade in the middle class rental housing in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. Being placed in charge of important, high value projects set him in good stead for his future career.

It wasn’t until 1971 that Trump began to build public recognition for himself, moving to Manhattan and taking part in bigger building projects. Unfortunately with greater recognition comes a larger public liability, and in 1973 Trump experienced his first brush with controversy when he was accused by the Justice Department of violating the Fair Housing Act.

Despite experiencing financial difficulties throughout the years, as of 2015 Trump is estimated to be worth around $4 billion through a huge number of projects.

So, what now?

Since announcing that he’ll be running in the Presidential election for 2016, it’s clear that Donald Trump’s focus is now primarily on politics. Largely, his Real Estate business is now run by his children, and Trump now aims to “make our country great again.”

Whatever the future holds for Donald Trump and his huge industry and enterprise, it’s easy to see that it’ll be big, and all of America will know about it.
