Where to start your new home search

Big Online Property Portals

If you’re one of those people who don’t mind needing to scroll through the many, many listings that are often present on Real Estate portals, then they’re a good place to start to help you find a new home. There are plenty of properties to look through, and most listings also include photos, property specifics and the contact details of the agents that are dealing with them. Some of the big ones that are worth looking at are Redfin, Zillow, Zoopla and Right Move.

Of course, if searching through thousands of listings for a property that might be the right thing for you sounds like your idea of a nightmare, then maybe you’ll want to start a little smaller.

Individual Real Estate Agents

If you’ve already got an idea of the area you’d like to move to, then you can start your property search by contacting, or looking on the website of, local Real Estate Agents. Although there will still be some listings to look through, there won’t be as many by a long shot, and you’ll have the added expertise of your Agent on hand to help you whenever you need it. Google should be able to help you find an agent local to the area you’re looking at.

Local Notices and Word of Mouth

If you’re sticking with the area you currently live in and have no real desire to move far afield, then keeping an eye out for notices in the local newspaper or shop windows, and asking around, can be a great way to help you find a new property. Just ask about and keep your eyes open, there’s nothing else to it!
