Value Boosting Home Improvements for the Winter Months

Winter is coming! It's almost time to whack the heating on, turn on your fire and cosy up with a blanket and warm pair of slippers in front of the TV for a cosy film. Of course, not everyone's property is going to be warm, and there's always room for improvement! Today, we're going to be talking about a couple of things you could do to help make your home a bit warmer through the winter months, and raise the value a bit in case you're thinking of reselling the home.

Winter is coming! It’s almost time to whack the heating on, turn on your fire and cosy up with a blanket and warm pair of slippers in front of the TV for a cosy film. Of course, not everyone’s property is going to be warm, and there’s always room for improvement! Today, we’re going to be talking about a couple of things you could do to help make your home a bit warmer through the winter months, and raise the value a bit in case you’re thinking of reselling the home.

Make your home toasty and raising the value this season

Insulation
The loft of a property is by far the coldest area, and this cold can seep down through the rest of the property if you’re not properly insulated. Investing in good quality insulation (or even just replacing your old stuff if it’s proving to be less effective now) can make your property warmer, lower the costs of heating your property and as a result, raising the property value. It’s definitely a “can’t lose” situation!

Double Glazed Windows
Just like insulation, your windows can be a huge source of colder temperatures in the home. Most people already have double glazed windows at this point, but if you’re still working with regular windows, it’s well worth the cost of upgrading to enjoy a warmer home and a better property value in the long run! Again, simply investing in window improvement should help your home be toasty warm, and lower the cost of heating.

Replace your Boiler
Old boilers will often provide an inefficient service and cost a small fortune to run when the heating needs to be cranked up come winter. Replacing your boiler with a new one, although incredibly expensive, will save you money in the long run and help your home stay warm through the cold months without as much strain on your gas supply.

Replace your Sealant
If you’re home is mostly up to date and staying fairly warm, but you notice the occasional draft, it might be time to take a look at your sealant and give it a new lease of life with a fresh bit. This is something most people can do themselves, and is the cheapest recommendation on our list. Just have a look over your windows and doors to see if it needs doing and go ahead!

Of course, most of the options on the list are on the pricey side, so it’s not feasible for most to do all of them at once – but your property might not need it! Take a look at your needs, assess and act accordingly, and enjoy a lovely warm home this winter.
