Reviewing Real Estate Sites: Right Move
Last week we took a look at US based Real Estate website Zillow, running through the benefits of the website, the features that aren't quite so good, and letting you all know what we think is great about it. This week, we're going to be doing the same for UK company Right Move. Essentially, these two Real Estate websites are very similar, but as always, there are differences that one will have, while the other lacks, and vice versa.
Last week we took a look at US based Real Estate website Zillow, running through the benefits of the website, the features that aren’t quite so good, and letting you all know what we think is great about it. This week, we’re going to be doing the same for UK company Right Move. Essentially, these two Real Estate websites are very similar, but as always, there are differences that one will have, while the other lacks, and vice versa.
Founded in 2000, Right Move is the UK’s answer to all the big US based online Real Estate portals. The essence of it is that properties for purchase, rental and sale – inclusive of commercial property as well as residential property – are listed, either privately or by agents.
The only real equivalent that Right Move has within the UK is Zoopla; however, Right Move remain the UK’s number one online property portal, and there’s definitely a reason for this. The website is incredibly well laid out, making it very user friendly, simple to navigate and a breeze to find what you’re looking for.
Some of the main features of the Right Move website are:
- it covering purchases, sales and rental property
- a combination of residential and commercial properties
- coverage of student accommodation (a big positive, particularly in the UK as student housing can be difficult to find at an affordable rate)
- the inclusion of overseas property; something not many property portals cover
- its status as the UK’s number one online property portal
- listings, with the function to refine and sort your listings according to price, distance, and so on.
Right Move also offer a significant amount of advice just on their website, from local area information, to advice on local Real Estate Agents, and an in depth blog with plenty of information to be read through at your fingertips. You can sign up for property alerts, check the going rate of house prices, and even have a look at house prices for recently sold properties – not a bad range of features for what is essentially just a property portal.
All in all, Right Move is a good resource for those looking for a home in the UK, and for those in the UK looking for a home overseas; particularly when a decent amount of local advice is required.
