Redfin: A Review

At first glance, Redfin’s website is appealing to the eye. The red and white colour scheme is pretty cohesive and it looks like it takes itself quite seriously – which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. The website is easy to use, simple to get your head around, and works well enough that even people who aren’t overly familiar with websites and the internet in general wouldn’t have an issue using it.

Coverage

Redfin covers a huge area of the United States, giving you the opportunity to find a home in the country no matter where you’re planning on moving to. At the bottom of the home page, you can see a list of the states that they can help you find a home in – pretty handy if you don’t already have somewhere specific in mind and are just scouting for inspiration.

Search Function

Redfin’s search function is actually pretty good. You can actually search by place name, zip code, etc., at the top of the page and then click on state names at the bottom of the page to be taken to a dedicated area where you can search specifically within that state.

Once you’ve put your search query in, you can sort your results (which you’ll definitely want to do, since it’ll likely bring back a fair few and no one needs to look through everything. This is especially handy if you’ve got a top end budget). You can also refine your search with some fairly comprehensive options, including price range, property size and so on.

Services offered

Redfin is a residential Real Estate online portal, and thus deals strictly in home properties. However, they offer a great range of tools that you may find useful when either buying or selling a house, which the website facilities. It also has a dedicated tools section strictly for Real Estate Agents, which could be well worth looking at if you’re in that line of work.

Overall, Redfin is a good portal. It’s comprehensive, easy to use and is simple to refine your listings. However at the end of the day you are still searching through listings to find a ideal property for you. A little extra help wouldn’t go amiss.
