How to Spend a Great New Year at Home

After Christmas, the celebration continues. Now we look forward to the end of a successful year and the start of a great New Year. And while there are a few more parties and celebrations to be enjoyed with family and friends in clubs, restaurants and other public places with a bang, some might want to spend it quietly and peacefully at home. Here’s how to spend New Year at home peacefully.

  1. Keep your plans to yourself.

If you want to spend a nice and quiet New Year at home, then don’t go around telling everyone about it. You risk having too many people telling you that’s the worse idea ever. Then you will have to spend most of your energy explaining to people, convincing them not to take you to a mental institution, or finding a great excuse for staying in.

  1. Come up with a foolproof excuse.

You can’t avoid everyone all the time. You will have to face family and friends and tell them about your unpopular plan. Sometimes it is really hard to say “No,” to invitations. So if you have tough time declining, it pays if you have prepared a good solid excuse or perhaps even a script to reply to their interrogations. Whether your excuse is “work” related, “personal” or some other “prior plans,” be consistent.

  1. Be love-filled and guilt-free.

Remember that you are doing this for yourself and for a more important purpose. So don’t beat yourself up for refusing a few invitations. People will understand or will be too drunk to remember you were not at the party. You just gotta do what you gotta do! If a quiet and reflective year-end is what you need, then be at peace. Start the New Year with love and without guilt.

Being at home to start a New Year may be just what you need to examine the year that was, set priorities straight and position yourself for success. After all, as what the great Greek philosopher, Socrates once said, “An unexamined life is not worth living.” So good luck on a reflective New Year celebration!
