Find a home in Stockholm

There’s nowhere quite like Stockholm. The fourteen islands that make up the city are connected by more than fifty bridges, with ferries and boats for sightseeing trips moving visitors and residents around the city so they can make the most of their time there. Of course, there’s plenty to see. From the beautiful, clear waters, to the medieval style buildings, and the immense level of culture to soak up and enjoy.

So, how do you go about finding a home in Stockholm?

As with any large city, finding a home is expensive, and can be incredibly competitive. Although flats in bigger Swedish cities are maintained to a high standard and always contain everything you need for day to day life, you are looking at quite a large expense in order to obtain one.

When it comes to renting property in Stockholm, there are two main types of tenancies you can obtain. A direct tenancy, in which the agreement is between you and the property Landlord, and a sublet, wherein the agreement is between you and someone who is a tenant in the property, rather than an owner. A sublet agreement is more likely to be used when you’re renting a room in a property, rather than renting the whole property to yourself. This is a great way to save a bit of money, and meet some local people so you’re not alone in a new city!

Of course, one of the best ways you can ensure that you’re finding somewhere great to live is by utilising the local knowledge and brilliant expertise of a local Real Estate Agent. You can find a list of ten fantastic Real Estate Agents in Stockholm on this Yelp list, giving you plenty to choose from – and a great chance to find a fantastic home, without the fuss!
