Find a home in Rome

If you take a look online, there’s very little in the way of information on finding a property in Rome. One of the first things to note if you’re thinking of moving to Rome is that it’s near essential to learn Italian beforehand. If you’re not very nearly fluent in the language, you’ll find it very difficult to find a job, as you won’t qualify for most of them, and you may find that you have more trouble getting around the city than you initially thought. Now that’s out of the way, let’s take a look at how to find great property in Rome.

It’s important to note that accommodation in Rome is both small, and expensive, and commutes into the city for property at a lower price just outside of Rome may not be worth it. The Real Estate market is a tight one, and it can be difficult to find good property at a low enough price for many. The Landlord will generally be favoured over the tenant, and you may be expected to hand over two to three months rent, or even a bank reference, to your Landlord by way of a security deposit just to get you into the property. With the high prices, perhaps finding a friend to share with, at least initially, would be a prudent decision.

When it comes to actually finding yourself a property, looking locally is generally going to be your best bet. Word of mouth, advertisements in cafes, and shop windows and the like will be the best way for you to find a property in Rome. Of course, a good Real Estate Agent can certainly help. This list of the 10 best Real Estate Agents in Rome from Yelp should hopefully help you find someone worthwhile and willing to go the extra mile to help you get the home you deserve in a beautiful city.
