Find a home in Liverpool
Liverpool is a well known city in the North West of England; home to the Beatles, Liverpool Football Club and many a famous land mark, it’s a popular destination for people looking for a slice of city life, without the added stress that a city like London brings to the table. However, since the city is very popular, finding good housing in a great area can be problematic.
Of course, local knowledge is a must when it comes to finding first class property that you’ll love living in. Fortunately, Liverpool is full of brilliant Real Estate Agents, such as Sutton Kersh, Venmores and Tyre and Hart, as well as many more.
There are many types of housing to choose from in Liverpool; private renting, social housing and purchase properties making up the bulk of these. The type you choose will depend largely on your budget, your circumstances and the local connections you have within the city.
Despite the city being a lovely place, the cost of living is relatively affordable – particularly for being a big city that is a popular destination for both the local people, and those moving from other areas. This is well worth considering when you’re deciding where to move to.
Some places you can look for properties within the city are:
- Right Move – see our review here.
- Gumtree – both private and social properties can be found advertised here, but purchase properties are something of a rarity.
- Local advertisements, including in shop windows, on Facebook and in newspapers.
- Word of mouth; if you know people who live in the city, the chances are they’ll be somewhat familiar with some private landlords.
- Social housing: generally social housing is available only to those in need, and with local connections within the city. If you have neither, you’ll probably be looking at private renting as your best option, however private renting in Liverpool isn’t as expensive as some cities.
As always, we recommend doing your research ahead of time, and really researching which areas you’d like to live in. By no means are any two areas of the city the same, so be sure to seek out the knowledge of someone with local experience.
