The Perfect Home: Standard and Suburban

Not every home of someone’s dreams needs to be completely outstanding; for some, a house that just epitomizes home for them is more than enough. For me, your standard suburban house does exactly that. The ideal property is aesthetically pleasing, but by no means is it enough to render someone open mouthed at the sight of it. This is my dream home.

For me, your standard suburban house does exactly that. The ideal property is aesthetically pleasing, but by no means is it enough to render someone open mouthed at the sight of it. This is my dream home.

The Perfect Home: Standard and Suburban

To me, this style of home really says family life. It’s the type of property you buy as a newly-wed when you’re ready to settle into family life and start planning to have a child or two. It’s bigger than your old city apartment, but not so big it’s difficult to maintain.

You have both a front, and a back garden, and big windows with patio doors leading to the outside — you can envision a cat, maybe even a dog prowling around outside and running indoors when you open its food. The garden is the perfect space for a vegetable patch, and a couple of spots would be brilliant places to lay down some flower beds. The garden is versatile, and absolutely a selling feature of the suburban home.

Big windows, a light and airy feel and space for everything are the main features of this home. You can tell it’s meant for more than one or two people, and is just waiting to be filled with more. The interior is clutter free, neutrally decorated and the walls are just waiting for pictures to be put upon them.

Naturally, when you first move in there are more bedrooms than you need. Perhaps one of them is used as an office for now, one of the smaller ones because it’ll be easier to adapt later on.

The kitchen and dining room are big enough to entertain; you can comfortably cook for friends and family when they come over for a dinner party, or Sunday lunch, and you have space to seat everybody without having to drag in the garden chairs. There are some smaller spotlights as well as the main light, so that when it gets dark outside but the main overhead light feels too stark, you can just put on your spotlights, light a few candles and create a fantastic atmosphere that no one will want to leave.

Space, a cosy atmosphere and room to grow are the selling points of this home. It’s nothing special, but it could be one day.
