Whether you’re just sprucing up your home ready for the warm summer weather or you’re making some improvements in preparation for selling up and moving on, keeping the glass parts of your home clean is essential. Keeping any glass panes, windows and doors looking spick and span is a must when you’ve got people popping in to view the property, or even if you’re just a little bit house proud!

So today we’re talking about some essential tips for keeping your windows and glass looking their very best, ready to reel in any potential buyers and get you a sale!

Sunday Tasks: Glass Cleaning Tips

Cleaning our windows is one of those tasks no one really loves to do, isn’t it? We know it needs doing, but we never quite achieve the results we want so it all seems a bit pointless.

Unfortunately having sparkling clean windows is important when it comes to keeping the home looking tidy, and for when we want to sell our homes so it definitely needs to be done! When it comes to getting those windows looking lovely why not try:

  • Not leaving it too long between cleans. When there’s less dirt to clean off, the cleaning process is easier. Try and get your windows thoroughly cleaned every two weeks or so to make things easier on yourself.
  • Getting the right equipment on hand. There are a few things you just can’t do without when cleaning your windows, make sure you’ve got it on hand (a shammy leather, a large sponge, a squeegee and a long handle, and the right cleaning solution are all a must) to help make your task that bit easier.
  • Speaking of the right solution… not all window cleaners are created equal, and indeed, you might find some leave behind nothing but streaks to show for your hard work. Why not try creating your own with some water, vinegar, lemon juice and a very small squirt of washing up liquid? Sure to get you great results!

Try and wash your windows on days where there’s a decent amount of sunlight about, and not too high a chance of rain. This will enable you to see more clearly which parts of your windows need to be cleaned, and gives you more opportunity to enjoy the fruits of your labour!
